Westland Construction is honoured to be delivering Canada\'s first Indigenous healing space within a children\'s hospital, a landmark project at HSC Children\'s Hospital designed to create a culturally grounded environment for healing, connection, and support for Indigenous children and families.

This project consists of the construction of a new ground-up McDonalds restaurant in Virden, Manitoba, featuring a modern dine-in and dual-lane drive-thru layout with full civil site development, retaining walls, landscaping, parking, and complete mechanical/electrical systems. The development has been designed to support efficient traffic flow, customer accessibility, and long-term operational performance while aligning with current McDonalds restaurant standards and branding requirements.

This project involves upgrading the HVAC systems serving the Operating Room, including the replacement of fan coil units, new chilled water piping and controls, and selective architectural modifications to support the new infrastructure. Temporary hoarding and protection measures were implemented to maintain a safe and controlled construction environment.

The Oakbank McDonalds is a modern restaurant project that features a contemporary 4,048 sq. ft. restaurant with a dual-lane drive-thru, modern dining area, enhanced landscaping, and fully integrated site infrastructure designed to support high customer volumes and long-term operational efficiency. From site development and structural construction to coordinated mechanical and electrical systems, the project showcases a streamlined approach to quality construction, functionality, and customer-focused design.

This project involves the interior renovation of an existing school to construct a new universal washroom, including selective demolition, new partition walls, plumbing walls, HVAC, electrical upgrades, and finishes. Work also includes structural modifications, crawlspace plumbing tie-ins, and a roof penetration for new mechanical exhaust, all completed within an occupied elementary school environment.

The awarded project includes reconfiguring the existing space and creating a new clinical space with supporting areas on the ground level of the building.
