Description

History has been reborn in downtown Winnipeg and Westland Construction had a hand in it. The company was hired as Construction Manager on the ambitious Upper Fort Garry Provincial Park project.
Together with landscape architects HTFC Planning & Design and architects Cohlmeyer Architecture Limited, Westland transformed the city's 100 Main Street site into an interactive green space honouring the iconic fort, its people and its legacy. The project included rejuvenating the site by re-creating the footprint of the buildings, the boardwalk and the western wall of the fort and creating a downtown greenspace for the public to enjoy.

The historic nature of the site presented some unique challenges, including engaging an archaeologist anytime the contractors broke past the site's existing till line.

Westland is proud to have been part of the award winning Upper Fort Garry Provincial Park project.
