Description

Given Westland's community spirit and history in giving back to the local community, the company was excited to tackle construction of the North End Wellness Centre.

A 25,000 sq. ft. mixed use building, the centre includes a basketball court and game facilities; a youth centre with a climbing wall and an indoor skateboard park; a unique state-of-the-art child care centre; an indoor playground and an outdoor play yard; and a community commons kitchen, café and meeting place. In addition, there is administration space for the partners to aid in the delivery of support programs which include health care, employment and life skills training and community organization and development.

With proper planning and procedures in place to achieve the diverse needs and specialized requirements of the build, Westland was able to start construction in March 2009 and complete it in October of the same year.
