Description

Westland expands its footprint in Winnipeg's Osborne Village neighborhood with the construction of 548 Stradbrook. The 9200 sq. ft., eight-unit infill development is located on a history-rich residential street lined with turn-of-the-century homes, 100-year-old elm trees and an historic brick church.

To blend in with its remarkable backdrop, 5468796 Architecture designed the building with reflective glass panels that allow it to be camouflaged with its character-filled surroundings. The panels are overlaid like fish scales both vertically and horizontally across the entire building. The tempered panels follow a simple grid pattern that allows them to be easily substituted for windows wherever necessary.

The result is a dazzling and futuristic piece of architecture that plays off of the century homes and fits right in to the adjacent environment.
