Description

Major overhauls at Winnipeg's top tourist destination include converting the 10,000-square-foot Travel Manitoba Visitor Information Centre at The Forks into a hybrid of modern office space and a state-of-the-art interactive visitor information hub.

To achieve the transformation, The Forks Renewal Corporation enlisted Westland Construction Ltd. as Construction Manager to join the client's team and assume responsibility for overall management and construction.

The Travel Manitoba space appropriately reflects many of the province's natural features and attributes, including interior floors made out of locally-sourced laminated timbers, and a mezzanine railing showcasing Indigenous art scenes custom designed by community artists. Sputnik Architecture created a design which successfully reinvented the building to house offices for the entire Travel Manitoba staff under one roof and in conjunction with Westland, renovated the existing display-centric visiting area into something digitally-interactive and visitor friendly.
